Benton Air Center Aviation Scholarship Application


Shasta County youth under the age of 25 interested in careers in aviation are invited to apply for any of the following B.A.C. Aviation Scholarships:


Introduction to Flight – $525 for introductory ground school and online Cessna course.


Private Pilot’s Certificate – $2,025 financial assistance for students working toward a Private Pilot’s Certificate. Includes ground school and online Cessna course package.


Advanced Rating – $1,900 financial assistance for a certified pilot working toward an advanced rating.


All scholarship-financed ground school and flight instruction is to be conducted through Benton Air Center. All funds will be awarded as a credit to the individuals BAC account for the sole purpose of flight training. Additional awards may be applied for as funds allow, but no priority will be given for second or subsequent awards. Applicants must be residents of Shasta County or full-time students in Shasta County schools. Scholarship funds must be used within 12 months of date of award.

Introduction to Flight Scholarship Application

To apply for the Introductory Flight scholarship, the applicant must:

(a) Submit a personal letter giving your reasons for selecting a professional aviation career path. Do include descriptions of your aviation related activities, with emphasis on what means the most to you. Discuss how you would use the scholarship to attain your career goals. What future employment do you plan to pursue? Do you have any extracurricular activities, hobbies, and interests? Personal letter should be limited to one page.

(b) Submit one or more letters of recommendation from flight instructors, pilots, teachers, Scout leaders, Civil Air Patrol leaders, etc.

(d) Be at least 16 years of age.
